Star Nhà Ease: Vietnamese Cinema brings a bold and beautiful selection of Vietnamese films to UK screens for the very first time. Taking place throughout May and June 2024, this inaugural season is a landmark celebration of Vietnamese cinema, its legacy, its vision, and its power to connect audiences across cultures.
From pioneering classics to urgent contemporary stories, this programme showcases the richness of Vietnam’s cinematic voice, told by Vietnamese storytellers through a Vietnamese cultural lens.
Screenings and events took place across the UK, with headline events at Rich Mix (London), FACT Cinema in the City at PAGODA ARTS (Liverpool), and Midlands Arts Centre (Birmingham), as well as one off screenings in Bradford, Belfast, Bristol, Newcastle, Nottingham Leicester, Leeds and Sheffield.

Programme: Introduction | Screening with Live Musical Score | Q&A
For our first season, Nammy Wams was commissioned to create a 20 minute live musical response to Little Girl of Hanoi, performed alongside an edited screening of the film. He also took part in a Q&A, sharing that it was one of the first Vietnamese films he had ever seen. London-based Nammy Wams is a producer and DJ specialising in Grime and UK Drill, hosting a weekly show on Croydon FM, where he now serves as Director. His debut album Yellow Secret Technology was praised by Boomkat as “20 tracks of pure bangers,” and he has performed internationally, with music featured in Netflix’s Top Boy and Copa90’s Wilfred Zaha documentary.
